Evacuated Tube Solar Collector 5 Year Warranty on Parts

1. SCOPE OF COVERAGE

This warranty applies to a new solar collector purchased by the end user from GLE Solar Energy, a division of Great Lakes electric, LLC (hereafter GLE) or through one of its authorized Distributors or Dealers and installed by a GLE Certified Installer. The warranty covers the collector as a whole including all of its components and parts. It extends to the first buyer and to any subsequent owners of the system for a total of Five (5) years from date of original purchase. Original receipt of purchase is required or product registration through GLE or one of its authorized Distributors. The first year of the 5 year warranty provides limited coverage for parts and labor.

2. WARRANTY ON THE COLLECTOR

GLE warrants fully its solar collectors to be free from defects in both material and workmanship for a total period of five (5) years from date of original purchase. If a workmanship, component or material failure occurs during the warranty period, GLE will provide a new part, or at GLE’s option, have the damaged part repaired. The replacement or repaired part shall be covered by warranty, but shall be limited in time to the remainder of the original warranty period. This warranty applies to collectors installed for use as a heat collector to provide energy for use in medium temperature range applications (110 to 210 degrees Fahrenheit) only.

During the first year of coverage, a limited warranty of parts and labor is provided to ensure proper installation and quality parts are provided. For one year from the original purchase date, when the solar collector is operated and maintained in accordance with instructions attached to or provided with the product, GLE will replace factory specified parts and original installer will provide installation to correct defects in materials and/or workmanship that existed when the unit was purchased. Service must be provided by a GLE certified service company. Optional extended warranty may be purchased prior to the end of the first year from date of original purchase.

This warranty is only valid for units purchased and installed in the same country. Proof of original purchase is required to obtain service under this warranty. See details below of other limitations and/or exclusions.

3. SERVICE LABOR RESPONSIBILITY

This warranty does not cover any labor costs for repair or replacement except as expressly described above.

4. COLLECTOR SOLAR ABSORBER SURFACE

GLE warrants fully for a period of 5 years against any degradation of the collector solar absorber surface which would significantly affect the collector performance.

5. WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS:

A. This Warranty Will Not Apply To the Following Exclusions

1.) Defects or malfunctions resulting from failure to properly install, operate or maintain the collector.

2.) Damage from abuse, accident, fire, flood, hail, wind or other acts of God.

3.) Glass breakage.

4.) Collector failure which occurs due to damage caused by heat transfer fluids.

5.) If the collector is moved from the original installation location. Unless moved by a GLE Certified Installer.

Limitation on Exclusion from Coverage: Conditions that may occur in the normal operation of the collector

shall not be invoked by GLE to reduce the coverage of this warranty.

6. OTHER RIGHTS AND REMEDIES

A. Consequential and Incidental Damages GLE shall not be liable for:

1.) Consequential damages to the system in which the improperly functioning collector is installed, and

2.) Incidental expenses incurred to repair or replace, as necessary, any other obligations or liability in connection with the collector.

B. No Other Express or Implied Warranties Unless otherwise explicitly agreed to in writing, it is understood that these are the only written warranties given by GLE, and GLE neither assumes nor authorizes anyone to assume for it any other obligations or liability in connection with the collector.

C. Implied Warranties: This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

D. Right to Arbitration: Any dispute between the buyer and GLE pertaining to this warranty may, at the option of the buyer, be resolved by arbitration in the state installed according to the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except for installation issues where installation was conducted by a non-GLE approved installer.

E. Right to Indemnity: GLE will fully indemnify a licensed contractor who installs the collector and gives a written warranty as required by the California Solar Tax Credit Regulations, in the amount of any liability to the buyer under such warranty for a breach that is also a breach of the Manufacturer’s warranty to the buyer.

7. FILING A CLAIM

8. EXTENDED WARRANTIES

Warranty Extensions are available directly through GLE Solar Energy. These warranties will protect your GLE Solar Energy Solar Collectors beyond the standard 5 year warranty.

A. 2 Year Warranty Extension (7 Year Total Warranty)

B. 3 Year Warranty Extension (10 Year Total Warranty)

Extended Warranties provide the same coverage, and are bound by the same constrictions and policies as the standard 5 year warranty and must be purchased prior to the first year anniversary from the date of original purchase.
